Lyric is a 21-year-old fashion design and production graduate from New Haven, CT, who studied at Lasell University. In Fall 2023, she studied abroad at the Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti in Milan, Italy. Her senior collection, titled "Rush Hour," features a seven-look lineup that debuted on April 26th during Lasell's 2025 Runway showcase. The collection is bold and feminine, showcasing a sense of playfulness combined with nostalgic charm. It is inspired by the hustle of city life and the fast pace of modern living.
As a young child, Lyric adored fashion and reveled in styling herself, dolls, siblings, and parents. However; it was the local designers who served as mentors for Pure Noire Modeling Coterie who encouraged Lyric to turn her dreams into a reality. Lyric felt a personal connection with the designers since according to her the designers were cool, fun, and creative just like her!
History of Lyric Chaya
Soon after, Lyric was inspired to start making her own clothes. Lyric's designs drew compliments and just a few months later at 9 years old, she designed her first runway collection debuting as ‘Lyric Chaya Couture’ at the Pure Noir Modeling Coterie's summer runway show in the summer of August 2014. Inspired by 90’s fashion, ‘Lyric Chaya’ is a sporty streetwear brand. Lyric’s favorite and first piece to design are her varsity jackets, which is her most popular product. In 2016, Lyric received the “Entrepreneurship Award for Excellence in Business and Professionalism” from Philadelphia Kids Fashion Week. She was also interviewed by The Chat It Up Show in 2017. In the same year, she also created her second clothing line Nerdy Chic. Nerdy Chic is preppy with an urban twist using vibrant colors, fabrics, and patterns.
In the past few years Lyric has participated in fashion shows and pop-up shops. As Lyric continues to grow as an individual over these last 10 years the brand organically evolved. Lyric is excited to show her evolution through her new art and designs, for the now rebranded ‘Lyric Chaya’.
